My partner and I call ourselves <a href="http://facebook.com/collablab.one">Collablab</a>. We share an art studio and work on collaborative art with each other and also with our ever changing crew of artist friends. I continue to do a lot of my own recycled and mixed media art, which I post there as well. Thanks!Ren Geertsenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07427709305615263162noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5239232477101413164.post-61137130316318016032013-02-27T13:09:00.000-07:002013-02-27T13:09:20.191-07:00Greetings to all who have followed (or maybe just now stumbled upon) my 365 recycling project! I don't post on here much anymore, but please check out my new Facebook page, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/MischievousMess">Michievous Mess</a>. There you will see what I'm currently busy with, and items that I have for sale. I've been busy this summer working on a dress for the Glam Trash Fashion Show, the annual recycled fashion show here in Taos. My dress was made out of aluminum can tabs. I saved tabs for about a year before starting. I had a lot of friends collecting them for me. I also told someone who was passing through town about my project and he sent me close to 1000 tabs in the mail! The finished dress has over 5500 tabs, and about 3000 of that is just in the ruffles. I'm so happy that after a year of collecting and a couple of months of assembling, that I pulled it off. Here are a couple of pictures of me wearing my pop tab dress at the event:<br />

I make something almost every day. I can't help myself, I'm so used to it!!! I have been working on one major project for an art show. It's part of a puzzle made up of eight pieces that is going to be in an art show in Philadelphia. I sent it off in the mail a few days ago. I am very excited to be a part of an art show outside of my own little town, it's a first for me. I created this collage out of magazine pictures. I cut up pieces of sky and buildings, and mixed them all up to create a new sky and a cityscape. I populated it with tiny people and cars and such. I added some perspective, yet allowed for some disproportion to give it a somewhat surreal feeling. I wanted it to be fun to look at, with quirky little things happening, like a person floating into the sky with ballons. I collected little people and cars for this for about three months, but only a few out of the hundreds of little pictures I collected ended up fitting right. I had way too much fun making this and put so much time and love into it. It is definitely one of my favorite pieces of art I have created!<br />

My last day of making something every day for a year was Feb 2. I'm done!!!! For this day, I decorated some bike chain magnets with little picture collages made from magazine pages. We are selling these at Seconds Eco Store. They are loads of fun to make!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnVDNWq_keXO9XXYXr5K9hPm5B5T8xFGdCU9B6LQIFIdAka3TjFQgBy7sTiqPf6jVsVoGDM66TTGzJcAyseZJJ1Zi4kj8kb28TYYBVGEcao0g08KB7DxECG0j7pDTXZtPSsnu5v6U_0QE/s1600/bike+chain+magnets.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnVDNWq_keXO9XXYXr5K9hPm5B5T8xFGdCU9B6LQIFIdAka3TjFQgBy7sTiqPf6jVsVoGDM66TTGzJcAyseZJJ1Zi4kj8kb28TYYBVGEcao0g08KB7DxECG0j7pDTXZtPSsnu5v6U_0QE/s640/bike+chain+magnets.JPG" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 365: For my very last project, I added to the flower I had started a few days before. This is all made out of identical mini business cards. I cut the exact same shape out of each of them and then glued them together using the dark and light ends of each petal shape to create a pattern. I feel very relieved to be done with this project. What a challenge it has been! I have been continuing to make art, but not every day. There are still some bigger pieces that I started this past year that I still have to finish, and there are some ideas that I came up with that I never got to start. I have been collecting pop tabs for the past year in order to make a dress. I have about 7,000 of them. So, there is still a lot of recycled art for me in the coming year!!! I am looking forward to continuing to make art, letting it take up more time and intention than I allowed for in my life before I started this. I feel like a gigantic door has been opened for me and there is still a whole world to explore out there. There are still a million possibilities of things to make from recycled materials. It has been truly inspiring to have made such a quantity of art in the past year. My mind has been constantly thinking about recycled art, every time I came accross something I was about to throw out or someone else was throwing out I have been challenged by the question, "What can I make with this?" Having to come up with 365 days of projects has put my mind in an almost constantly creative space. Even when I've been almost too tired to make something, I dreamt about the things I would make on days when I had more time and energy. My wish for the coming year is that my mind can stay open to ideas and creativity even if I'm not making something every day. I plan on posting a few more times this year as a follow up to how this project has affected my life and the art that continues to emerge. (I'd really like to be able to show off my dress when it's done.) Then I'll be able to let this blog rest in peace! Love and thanks to everyone who has supported me in this past year, giving me encouragement, trash, and company on this journey! XOXO!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaDzT7CpypCILeQBXfDBlLBS_GJLi_zFbMvtqkExE_Hygz2SzDhB374DU8oQNYnzI3FdLU6HbNEms4z_jzcrza8ZpyziG8g6K82Uz54QuYd7n63irk_wpeeMU_vuOeD7NrR-ksUoI-YVY/s1600/business+card+flower.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="602" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaDzT7CpypCILeQBXfDBlLBS_GJLi_zFbMvtqkExE_Hygz2SzDhB374DU8oQNYnzI3FdLU6HbNEms4z_jzcrza8ZpyziG8g6K82Uz54QuYd7n63irk_wpeeMU_vuOeD7NrR-ksUoI-YVY/s640/business+card+flower.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>Ren Geertsenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07427709305615263162noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5239232477101413164.post-44433011668244819972012-01-31T16:48:00.000-07:002012-01-31T16:48:48.155-07:00Day 357: I made some recycled valentines using some blank recycled paper cards and cuttings from magazines.<br />

They were mini "business cards" she handed out at a presentation she did. I took several of them, cut petal shapes and glued them together. I happen to have about a hundred more, so I might just add to this, making it a bigger, multi-layered flower. I remember when I started this yearly project, I kept making so many flowers, so I started trying not to make flowers, and here I am near the end making a flower again. Maybe finishing it will be the project for my very last day. One last big explosive flower.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2ClMKcg8ZYAqcoWROSM0uAtFBEcFhY4a0WdNTsx9NDIjkdcL-nfrjcF_ZsTNAJYfjBd1st_YI6YtLikCzZZpyhm51NasDtUvJKSv65924pK50OkM9ywtbFekm-gHtRqsH_WnKg3bIIWk/s1600/business+card+flower.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="386" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2ClMKcg8ZYAqcoWROSM0uAtFBEcFhY4a0WdNTsx9NDIjkdcL-nfrjcF_ZsTNAJYfjBd1st_YI6YtLikCzZZpyhm51NasDtUvJKSv65924pK50OkM9ywtbFekm-gHtRqsH_WnKg3bIIWk/s400/business+card+flower.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 363: I made the circles I had cut out last week into pins. All the words and images were cut out from old magazines. These were so much fun to make! We are selling these at the store where I work and I feel really lucky that I can be creative and have fun at work. I have only two days left to go of making something every day. Although at times throughout the year I have felt like it would take forever to get through the year, it now seems like it has flown by. I am feeling both relieved and sad about it coming to an end. I am hoping that I can keep my art and creativity a priority in my life even after I finish this commitment. Before I started this yearly endeavor, I was not very dedicated to making art, even though I've always considered myself a creative person. Over the past year, it has become one of the most important parts of my life. I feel more like an artist than I ever have before. I was just asked last week to be a part of a collaborative art project, where eight different people each decorate a large wooden puzzle piece, and then these pieces all fit together. People approach me now, asking me to be involved in making and teaching art. I used to be secretively creative; not on purpose, but most people in my life didn't know I was artistic at all. It wasn't until I started making things every day that my art started making its way past the confines of my own personal world. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I had been having so much fun decorating bottle caps for magnets, I decided to try doing a tiny collage on a puzzle piece. I thought they might make fun elements in jewelry projects. It ended up being hard to cut out the shape of the puzzle piece versus cutting out a simple circle for a bottle cap. I decided it wasn't worth the trouble to make more than just this one.<br />

I ended up making a bug like object with parts of a woman's body on it. I actually like it, though I don't know what it's good for.</div><br />

I had seen pictures of frames made using a technique I thought was really beautiful and I thought the kids could have some fun with it, so I tried it out. This frame is made on a cardboard base and decorated with magazine pages that have been rolled into reeds. This one I made on New Years day on the drive down to Albuquerque to visit some friends. Don't worry, I wasn't the one driving. I found this picture of a girl walking in the rain. I tried to give it a rainy kind of feel by ripping the paper into long strips. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH3hW_VCjayjE-kWbB4ynthcw-UiZcChSsdRIX5V10Q5-Lf4nltuqoO6SMf0RPgJ-wOyZI9wlbakFmWa91stV5maSnu_C9Iit3eFcJP5Kgod-5fDBXNo2PrewHJmncsJEA-V6XKyKFHvE/s1600/magazine+collage.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH3hW_VCjayjE-kWbB4ynthcw-UiZcChSsdRIX5V10Q5-Lf4nltuqoO6SMf0RPgJ-wOyZI9wlbakFmWa91stV5maSnu_C9Iit3eFcJP5Kgod-5fDBXNo2PrewHJmncsJEA-V6XKyKFHvE/s640/magazine+collage.JPG" width="498" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 334: I cut out a pair of scissors from a magazine page. This was one of my sneaky short projects. My mind was on hanging out and enjoying the friends we were visiting so I basically just made something as quick as I could! The friend we were visiting has a scissor collection (little pairs of scissors nailed to the wall) so scissors were the first thing that came to mind. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMmWus8-rwdvNLDQde5oU4jGszMzk4FiCkydXgwxOGTiayZdPLMjaDX2CqVbz0mcqULSjAnwpsTLvew76j6_fsFl44oxXeUU4HAcOAYqGJuB_GgJEr-mw2wUh676sPRNZ2hcuJu4YD9bE/s1600/paper+scissors.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="221" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMmWus8-rwdvNLDQde5oU4jGszMzk4FiCkydXgwxOGTiayZdPLMjaDX2CqVbz0mcqULSjAnwpsTLvew76j6_fsFl44oxXeUU4HAcOAYqGJuB_GgJEr-mw2wUh676sPRNZ2hcuJu4YD9bE/s320/paper+scissors.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day335: I always get a little melancholy around the time of my birthday. It's not about getting older, it's about struggling with accepting that I am loved and that it's okay to have a day that is supposed to be special for me. In the days approaching my birthday I go back and forth between excited and wishing I could just skip the whole thing. I decided to express some of that mixed emotion with some recycled tears.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7Tv85WOUCkORa6ArT_KccwWb2TJswv0sM51NENtEZxGgz921btO6o3l2Aw3JWzJSRax10QKW4az3eFZfUQLB8U_YED4NkQrBXdKDBBVcyeGOnRjST3DCdHJ0ldeXbnnu_NwZIGlIF6eA/s1600/paper+tears.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7Tv85WOUCkORa6ArT_KccwWb2TJswv0sM51NENtEZxGgz921btO6o3l2Aw3JWzJSRax10QKW4az3eFZfUQLB8U_YED4NkQrBXdKDBBVcyeGOnRjST3DCdHJ0ldeXbnnu_NwZIGlIF6eA/s400/paper+tears.JPG" width="305" /></a></div><div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 336: This collage is a continuation of thoughts and feelings around my birthday and reflections on where my life is at the moment. There is a crazy mix of words, some reflecting positive thoughts and outlooks, some of them a little more ambivalent, some expressing confusion and a sense of being lost. All this comes to rest on the right side of the page where there are two statements that sum up what I've uncovered as a solid foundation for approaching my life. It is important to me to be just as I am, without shoving my thoughts, desires, and impulses inside to please someone else (which I have indeed spent much of my life doing). The other is to always have something to look forward to. I am kind of an adventure/excitement junkie (though not in an extreme way like jumping out of planes). I am always seeking/wanting new experiences. I can get easily depressed when life becomes too routine. I know it is my responsibility to keep myself happy by actively seeking the next adventure rather than slipping into boredom and blaming it on relationship or the responsibilities of being a mom. This collage helped me to reconnect with that and curb the birthday blues. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu-0GsjZbL_CmEjtun9rh4n1dUVGOYBUFmh-u8i0E4IDOlgvM3c1yoenkFQOH-GfoovHrujwxzVYp3s5K9AoO-wEdgDczSV4AsPg51PNMg7l1fxGZ1vRyhbsP0vUbge555E4EzLDXZ828/s1600/magazine+collage+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="464" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu-0GsjZbL_CmEjtun9rh4n1dUVGOYBUFmh-u8i0E4IDOlgvM3c1yoenkFQOH-GfoovHrujwxzVYp3s5K9AoO-wEdgDczSV4AsPg51PNMg7l1fxGZ1vRyhbsP0vUbge555E4EzLDXZ828/s640/magazine+collage+2.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 337: More magazine circles for my ongoing art piece. This one is made from striped wrapping paper and is the largest one I have made yet.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb2Vk2Gu-0IOojy9gBtjyLc_aOXyIOGCMbY8OXl9-mSjQhzNSbaD-W0C3xfKiqVL24dZB-tHK_X0JL36CARSKX-B8Pz2RQNSA7nCd5n8qwGi0fphZ-2LzZ80WseZANEAW4hKS4mmiXVxY/s1600/wrapping+paper+bow.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="398" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb2Vk2Gu-0IOojy9gBtjyLc_aOXyIOGCMbY8OXl9-mSjQhzNSbaD-W0C3xfKiqVL24dZB-tHK_X0JL36CARSKX-B8Pz2RQNSA7nCd5n8qwGi0fphZ-2LzZ80WseZANEAW4hKS4mmiXVxY/s400/wrapping+paper+bow.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 328: I drew a picture of a kissing bug on a piece of cardboard. I am really liking cardboard as a surface to draw on. There is such an abundance of it and if the picture doesn't turn out well, then it just goes in the recycling bin with the rest of the cardboard. I am extremely fond of insects; even the ones I'm scared of I find fascinating. I call my daughter "bug" as a term of endearment. Kissing bugs get their name from the fact that they are drawn to the odors that people exhale and will bite you around the mouth. Cute, isn't it?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2bRsHOvzYPf439L6VFf4OAoPW4GA-jX6CL_60QAm6AfbPqGTovcjctM7Cwnz2S30ESqv5yVyc7PG8rHWl9lsLXABN_BbZysQo2MrDYT0J84f1WG7x0Aqv6AqCznUU6wMQMn9sbcUctp0/s1600/kissing+bug.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2bRsHOvzYPf439L6VFf4OAoPW4GA-jX6CL_60QAm6AfbPqGTovcjctM7Cwnz2S30ESqv5yVyc7PG8rHWl9lsLXABN_BbZysQo2MrDYT0J84f1WG7x0Aqv6AqCznUU6wMQMn9sbcUctp0/s400/kissing+bug.JPG" width="392" /></a></div><div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 329: Another sketch on a piece of cardboard. I am happy that this 365 project has gotten me drawing again. I used to draw a lot, but haven't much in the past ten years!! I think it would be fun to try drawing a sketch every day for a year. (Not that I'm ready to embark on this sort of journey again any time soon! As I'm nearing the end of the 365 days people have been asking me: "Are you going to continue?" I usually say: "Are you crazy?")</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWefczimc2YyV8JvDc80JjhedWNiFTqHO_xdk5jwwB8xU_ijnILgglx-7_QR_zCr3VB_KCiZ8nLQftVCS8zb4GN3qc4Mi05XctnS5FVgNXmlVyrqikCQbVmUDnmNBepUS0iwLkHaiSUVA/s1600/strawberries.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWefczimc2YyV8JvDc80JjhedWNiFTqHO_xdk5jwwB8xU_ijnILgglx-7_QR_zCr3VB_KCiZ8nLQftVCS8zb4GN3qc4Mi05XctnS5FVgNXmlVyrqikCQbVmUDnmNBepUS0iwLkHaiSUVA/s400/strawberries.JPG" width="393" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 330: I made about fifty more little pictures for magnets. I found this project on terracycle.com. I like it, but I know there's got to be even more potential for these juice pouches. They are such an interesting material. I think it would be fun to make bags out of them, but the one time I tried this was a somewhat sorry attempt because I sewed it by hand rather than on a sewing machine. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQjQI7R9pbH077UNGzkRCtxnV0_a8tQS9GpkS3eoWSPhMS3VxA5gr2FPpnaQ1Htwguak8pUZ0TormguRvcrenI0-FKeTEeYcSG7SYvi1fzIf3MUedqLMeiDxE2NqhzA9YnCs2-CdwaB8A/s1600/juice+pouch+ornament.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQjQI7R9pbH077UNGzkRCtxnV0_a8tQS9GpkS3eoWSPhMS3VxA5gr2FPpnaQ1Htwguak8pUZ0TormguRvcrenI0-FKeTEeYcSG7SYvi1fzIf3MUedqLMeiDxE2NqhzA9YnCs2-CdwaB8A/s320/juice+pouch+ornament.JPG" width="306" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Days 322-326: I made a bunch of magnets out of bottle caps. I basically went nuts over this project. I had so much fun searching for interesting backgrounds and teeny tiny pictures. I made about a hundred a day for three days and then spent two days pouring the resin and gluing on the magnets. Unfortunately several of them didn't turn out because the resin didn't harden. The ones that did work out are super cute though!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilEKqcociUPRWUa9Ma4S0FpOnbHOd1GdkuQ7lemr7kXHhuBTMPbpyLKmuZsiCQEVOxoZmHb1qteYNbk4rndHHxcfbep1P6Er-IR190E6wybUwMjYp472CrM1lxVwgsByFCFXDfF5IKoEg/s1600/bottle+cap+magnets+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="331" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilEKqcociUPRWUa9Ma4S0FpOnbHOd1GdkuQ7lemr7kXHhuBTMPbpyLKmuZsiCQEVOxoZmHb1qteYNbk4rndHHxcfbep1P6Er-IR190E6wybUwMjYp472CrM1lxVwgsByFCFXDfF5IKoEg/s400/bottle+cap+magnets+3.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />

I had so many strips left over from the last time I made a paper chain. I also wanted to have one to put up at my house. I made this really long and still have strips left over. <br />

This is another one of those projects that is so simple it feels like I'm cheating. I know at this point though, having super simple days keeps me going with the whole project and that more complicated projects will continue to surface as long as I stick with it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7a2fBSHntXGDdNDAr4AIYrWQLfWBMcXXQ6UyKnze6Q-plypy12IhJZmFzUJ20cZUlFh3XBhC0F8irYhZmhcKgOAAWJ-TTUzA7_TUVUbJQIevmpA3unWmf1ZZxnyJSGNhXUpMjUvCr7_o/s1600/magazine+page+flower.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7a2fBSHntXGDdNDAr4AIYrWQLfWBMcXXQ6UyKnze6Q-plypy12IhJZmFzUJ20cZUlFh3XBhC0F8irYhZmhcKgOAAWJ-TTUzA7_TUVUbJQIevmpA3unWmf1ZZxnyJSGNhXUpMjUvCr7_o/s320/magazine+page+flower.JPG" width="316" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 314: Using the folding technique I used on the last two projects, I created a bunch of snowflakes. I have always loved making snowflakes. I have been feeling a lot of satisfaction in making things from magazine paper that would usually be made from new paper. Instead of buying colored paper for paper chains, or white paper for snowflakes, or plastic gift bows, I have been making all these things out of magazine paper. There is so much that we make out of new materials that could be made out of recycled materials. I am very aware lately of how this past year of recycled projects has changed me. I think about how much packaging the things I purchase have and whether it is worth it. Ultimately, everything has a life span and will end up being disposed of eventually. I want to buy things that will last a long time and that will bring me a lot of satisfaction. There is so much I used to buy that I just wouldn't think of buying anymore.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPN8RhGt7A5zlaZoEGVkf0wMMEK6JCWy2rgGuXiQ3p-Gt8zjwREENissTYT1S7Hk89f3aHLUHehTEiEqyRt5S3ZTys_HdPi7gLvNCBY8IIxpe1fohBJnkCJX3seR6uEABldkGKhRKXDIQ/s1600/magazine+page+snowflakes.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPN8RhGt7A5zlaZoEGVkf0wMMEK6JCWy2rgGuXiQ3p-Gt8zjwREENissTYT1S7Hk89f3aHLUHehTEiEqyRt5S3ZTys_HdPi7gLvNCBY8IIxpe1fohBJnkCJX3seR6uEABldkGKhRKXDIQ/s640/magazine+page+snowflakes.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />

So glad I made it this far!!! It seems as though there are hardly any days left of this yearly endeavor. I think it is going to zoom right by me, and I'll be done before I know it. Then what? Everyone keeps asking me if I'll keep going. I might keep making at least a project a week for a while. It seems as though recycled art is now a part of who I am. For day 300, I made another modular origami sphere, this time out of magazine paper. Each little flower piece that becomes part of the sphere starts out as a pentagon, which is why I taught myself the pentagon making technique yesterday. It is made from twelve little flowers all together. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUtQHIkJ54ryQ5EAk1JHdzf8fyihDHyjHRPhWJ-9qpsfmtAQih8kN4Br6UJfWCKDBFGLG60dR59CAeq3eiABrZAAApMNSIPXHprNADWG9IYwQRTDLk5zJLGq1kaRuafEimHz02cLxioO8/s1600/magazine+page+origami.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUtQHIkJ54ryQ5EAk1JHdzf8fyihDHyjHRPhWJ-9qpsfmtAQih8kN4Br6UJfWCKDBFGLG60dR59CAeq3eiABrZAAApMNSIPXHprNADWG9IYwQRTDLk5zJLGq1kaRuafEimHz02cLxioO8/s640/magazine+page+origami.JPG" width="632" /></a></div>Day 301: I made some more magazine page bows. I filled the book with folded pages from the physics book I used for my project on days 154 and 155, so the pages have writing and numbers on them that go vertical instead of horizontal. I mostly wanted to try a book making technique that I've never tried before. When making thick books, you have to make several "signatures" which are sections of folded pages, that then need to be sewed to each other using what is called the coptic stitch. This book is made of about 10 signatures. It was fun doing the research and trying this technique out! </div><br />

When I make these I feel like I am playing rather than creating a piece of art. I'm just gluing together pictures that reflect my mood at the moment. I was just letting myself play, cutting up a fashion magazine. I tend to find fashion magazines annoying because most of the styles they contain I don't relate to in the least. I don't in general like crazy heels, constrictive clothing, ruffles, frills, sparkles, etc. (except on the rare occasion). I do, however, like the men's inspired clothing these girls are wearing and I do like a hint of lace. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLxXmBVA1R8Hz4y9PzElxFT-zyiVhuAFiVSN-evt27SIYeU3aPGiLEJntAOU0wUy326lcao36vViZr0Z9TvNZfAFltY99sOcb3IAcRPhOSHjPBxRszAmWe3PpyPyE4Vpp07CRChtVeYnk/s1600/magazine+collage.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLxXmBVA1R8Hz4y9PzElxFT-zyiVhuAFiVSN-evt27SIYeU3aPGiLEJntAOU0wUy326lcao36vViZr0Z9TvNZfAFltY99sOcb3IAcRPhOSHjPBxRszAmWe3PpyPyE4Vpp07CRChtVeYnk/s320/magazine+collage.JPG" width="307" /></a></div><div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 287: I glued together all of the circles that I have been making out of magazine page strips. I love the result so far! I want to add onto this piece as well as make several more similar pieces. They can all hang together to cover a large wall. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHE72CLpE0JQUWBhlD9kNidoHigMY0GmTllDbIhe73rSBvixC0Viu5YoYGRWGaZ1LomACkmeLV9Kp31ycYp6mD2GA_8tG39eE0uZ1nLq9htX094iyTUc_12JdL8-xxRLzmqtFiMAFuOe4/s1600/rolled+magazine+art.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="571" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHE72CLpE0JQUWBhlD9kNidoHigMY0GmTllDbIhe73rSBvixC0Viu5YoYGRWGaZ1LomACkmeLV9Kp31ycYp6mD2GA_8tG39eE0uZ1nLq9htX094iyTUc_12JdL8-xxRLzmqtFiMAFuOe4/s640/rolled+magazine+art.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 288: A friend of mine who is a chef gave me a bunch of unused plastic lids left over from food containers. I made these flowers by cutting out a flower shape, coloring it with marker and heating it up for a few seconds so that I could shape them. I have to admit that they look a lot better in the photograph than in real life. Oh well, I guess I'll have to figure something else out for the remaining hundred lids... </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5GYck9E1jI78w9FyHWWJWMSqsJShBT-baJxNfpSJbkepo97a4o4L8gwiwUNVlqyxaVL-eS3xWmBQsRTOok3-KSorvet0Y5cZ4G_dBar31JUghkclVj-59SHjY_ypfAalo2aAY8rFacN0/s1600/plastic+flowers.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5GYck9E1jI78w9FyHWWJWMSqsJShBT-baJxNfpSJbkepo97a4o4L8gwiwUNVlqyxaVL-eS3xWmBQsRTOok3-KSorvet0Y5cZ4G_dBar31JUghkclVj-59SHjY_ypfAalo2aAY8rFacN0/s400/plastic+flowers.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Some days this is about all the project I can squeeze in.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_JOLBca58kCfDRgYdA2JXIV5Td-mEB6_r128fZ5kl2EUxdpiDt7Otkkntrx5AQ3Q0fks6GDzov-mwSaXqYhOv8GZOr1P_RBO1R0o_jcqy_TKRWwbYDP7QQjp-xTRQo3mTsbWQ3lcl6Pc/s1600/cut+up+cardboard+tubes.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_JOLBca58kCfDRgYdA2JXIV5Td-mEB6_r128fZ5kl2EUxdpiDt7Otkkntrx5AQ3Q0fks6GDzov-mwSaXqYhOv8GZOr1P_RBO1R0o_jcqy_TKRWwbYDP7QQjp-xTRQo3mTsbWQ3lcl6Pc/s320/cut+up+cardboard+tubes.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 269 and 270: I cut up an entire 80 page catalog into strips on the first day. The following day I made them into a paper chain. They went a lot farther than I expected, so I have a fairly long chain and enough strips left over to make several more this length. I am excited that this chain is going to be part of the holiday decorations at Seconds Eco Store. I think it's going to look beautiful hanging in the window. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTYfbj_HYlpALmQoiWhkg4le8R50dYdusSR-lQJa0A98POZqXahGRPhSuUfGUjIvTgfBudMCgdpzQd0BH3rNEpUE4iLr04sLUfXfgOKo_xMMrP_h_bHYtxD5YTfQJQ6PZ7Y18zrUumXx4/s1600/catalog+paper+chain.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTYfbj_HYlpALmQoiWhkg4le8R50dYdusSR-lQJa0A98POZqXahGRPhSuUfGUjIvTgfBudMCgdpzQd0BH3rNEpUE4iLr04sLUfXfgOKo_xMMrP_h_bHYtxD5YTfQJQ6PZ7Y18zrUumXx4/s400/catalog+paper+chain.JPG" width="400" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqMx6qfctIHIT5zGcmTDshp0Dwby-bDMRK6rttSjnwXRV3KTi8MB_mzqVCxnrXa8tPqGVMXEcEMaUkuP_MZzvMs1gpPHQ3Mm3GHBz_tkzhL94Q8KF68zvogbz7dTEVdCyc8IiKEerEkU4/s1600/catalog+paper+chain+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqMx6qfctIHIT5zGcmTDshp0Dwby-bDMRK6rttSjnwXRV3KTi8MB_mzqVCxnrXa8tPqGVMXEcEMaUkuP_MZzvMs1gpPHQ3Mm3GHBz_tkzhL94Q8KF68zvogbz7dTEVdCyc8IiKEerEkU4/s320/catalog+paper+chain+2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 271: One of the things about making something every day is that some days you are going think you have a great idea and get all into it only to find yourself asking yourself the next morning, "What the heck did I make and what am I supposed to do with it?" I have had quite a few of these interesting objects manifest in the past year and here is another one. It is a piece of cardboard I painted black, cut out some circles, and stuck film canisters into. My idea was to either use it to store little things in, or have it be an interactive art piece, where there is an interesting object inside of each canister that the viewer can remove the lid to discover. At this point though, I am only finding the oddity in it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6Sv7SO-Jol0nmLmiosjJxa8WBXT_abY8jlJuG5HtZC46NuXWNMRQ7GNqwcU6Nc-5r3pL6YRQlhSfIJ_qriGc8HxANaF1Q7wa30DR4V0-PqS8y8cARkTtW5hEOurqWcoPHK2DyzSzu1JI/s1600/film+canisters.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6Sv7SO-Jol0nmLmiosjJxa8WBXT_abY8jlJuG5HtZC46NuXWNMRQ7GNqwcU6Nc-5r3pL6YRQlhSfIJ_qriGc8HxANaF1Q7wa30DR4V0-PqS8y8cARkTtW5hEOurqWcoPHK2DyzSzu1JI/s320/film+canisters.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 275: I made a star out of a tin can. I punched a design into it using a nail . I find it somewhat interesting, but being in New Mexico where a lot of fine tin work has been done, I'm not impressed with my own attempt at it. The edges are still sharp at this point and I should sand them down, that is if I want it to be some sort of decoration, rather than a lethal weapon. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ4fCRzB0LVIr_L-jovop9UkhRuPs_MN73R3uV1XTQmtCvPMDDHQeXGhpUY7J5GSNg2fFiVm51BoWJeFsvuZaIYNL6yHfqX8hYn48yo9Tf2ALPS5z6dB3ED8ci8P7l0U1q6V258ECpzB4/s1600/tin+can+star.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ4fCRzB0LVIr_L-jovop9UkhRuPs_MN73R3uV1XTQmtCvPMDDHQeXGhpUY7J5GSNg2fFiVm51BoWJeFsvuZaIYNL6yHfqX8hYn48yo9Tf2ALPS5z6dB3ED8ci8P7l0U1q6V258ECpzB4/s320/tin+can+star.JPG" width="307" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSHfpSzClFY0iU4zG-cesS6hoYX5nvfpUUZSnKmbLjuN8mT1VW6PMrGk8g3wm5OQBoScNRFmZUdhDQMVWME-pyNR-JNQJyL8OhwiBRz0vKauKj3WVVAFz-7FEcRei-rkQGot0xzi2pfEo/s1600/tin+can+star+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSHfpSzClFY0iU4zG-cesS6hoYX5nvfpUUZSnKmbLjuN8mT1VW6PMrGk8g3wm5OQBoScNRFmZUdhDQMVWME-pyNR-JNQJyL8OhwiBRz0vKauKj3WVVAFz-7FEcRei-rkQGot0xzi2pfEo/s320/tin+can+star+2.JPG" width="227" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 276: I took an old children's book, removed all of the pages, and rebound it with some blank art paper. I kept a few of the story pages and put them in with the blank paper to make it a little more interesting. I enjoy the process of making a book, cutting out the paper and sewing the pages together by hand. If I make more of these, I'll have to find some recycled paper for it, but I just used some paper from a sketch pad I already had. The thing that makes me very happy about this book is that I brought it into the store to try to sell it, and it sold within the first hour. It made my day!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjusrJPdzYEYOMQ64w5MskHJArWMIyOSbnpaAHnQJ1zHggY_N97E-zX-adFTIcHmh0J-Ns5LlEuXRbOdZKo7lCPESCuly3tP1GAPyo-5yj_ov1l5_SzjyPkQCPg2HxlEMN2XFgtn7PSZ9k/s1600/repurposed+book+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjusrJPdzYEYOMQ64w5MskHJArWMIyOSbnpaAHnQJ1zHggY_N97E-zX-adFTIcHmh0J-Ns5LlEuXRbOdZKo7lCPESCuly3tP1GAPyo-5yj_ov1l5_SzjyPkQCPg2HxlEMN2XFgtn7PSZ9k/s320/repurposed+book+2.JPG" width="288" /></a><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOFMY7MED_oHHYKC3ZUWw68GpQXC5r23FrOhZAzMTeN39gXINgVHUqTJL5e_LSyUKGiNzulVbfZs0CoMXQCOZTGj8A5Phy_Dsti1hyphenhyphen_cpDcpHOp9z_Un3DBC2NJtLJY1ZQTeL9-1CcT2Q/s320/repurposed+book.JPG" width="235" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> Day 277: I made a few tags out of a Annie's mac and cheese box, for my books and my milk carton photo album. I felt as though making a tag with my name on it is showing more pride in my work than I have done in the past. I often just put a price tag on my crafts without any mention of myself as the artist. I was hoping that this would help to elevate them, because I think people see more value in things that are presented as if they have value, rather than dismissing the hard work and love that went into them.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivMwZ2Ul5xmlhcn1RrqiJUj6U2Ze159Q2ajskRrOzqN5IkOTOz-RCXF2yCDJQeTGGseVDZy51gGQw3XNDa79iI8BXRz1K8RF1qtw6eDZUEXdabao_pUZ5JG6msiqBI-Ge6f30ymFJ_jYM/s1600/mac+and+cheese+tags+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivMwZ2Ul5xmlhcn1RrqiJUj6U2Ze159Q2ajskRrOzqN5IkOTOz-RCXF2yCDJQeTGGseVDZy51gGQw3XNDa79iI8BXRz1K8RF1qtw6eDZUEXdabao_pUZ5JG6msiqBI-Ge6f30ymFJ_jYM/s400/mac+and+cheese+tags+2.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I made the arms out of cereal and cracker boxes that I rolled into tubes, tapered the ends of, and wrapped up with duct tape. I then painted them mostly gold (I wanted the print on the boxes to show through slightly), and strung them together with string. I wore this to a Halloween party and won the prize for the best costume. I've never won a costume contest before! Here I am wearing it for trick or treating with my daughter (and having a blast). <br />

This was also my project on days 114 and 115. When I worked on it before, I mostly worked on one side of it. This time, I almost finished covering up the other side. Here is a close up photo so you can see all the little stitches from sewing them on by hand.<br />

Day 259: I made some more magnets from bottle caps. I got this idea from a photo I saw on recyclart. Check these out, here is the link! <a href="http://www.recyclart.org/2011/10/magnetic-bottle-caps/">http://www.recyclart.org/2011/10/magnetic-bottle-caps/</a> (I like theirs better, to be honest, cause they have cute little pictures actually drawn on them.) I used cut out pictures and words from magazines to decorate mine. I like how they turned out, and I like that these are a simpler, less stinky version than the resin ones I made before. (That resin stuff is really strong!)<br />

I made a banana cream pie for the first time and it turned out really yummy! I re-used an aluminum pie tin, as many of us do for pies. This happens to be my project for the day, because I did make it, and it involved recyling! I wasn't able to take a picture of it before it got eaten though. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 263: I started working on my Halloween costume. I decided to be an imaginary insect, perhaps a robotic insect, if I end up looking metallic and engineered enough. So far, I have a hat, and a shell to wear on my back. I used the egg carton helmet I made on day 118. I'm glad it finally has a real purpose. I used egg cartons to decorate the shell too.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcwExBaiOj8htihEJtV2llvNoPM_TOkCag8gjHWXAGLtucquiug7kEA7KOSJCMdjRLcPZccgByEXAfCzTuLQN6sU8OBUT4IHvB_zrDkpgBztn9HzFZpuTYNzqjZ20ubLZAoY1LVwCuyws/s1600/egg+carton+bug+head.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcwExBaiOj8htihEJtV2llvNoPM_TOkCag8gjHWXAGLtucquiug7kEA7KOSJCMdjRLcPZccgByEXAfCzTuLQN6sU8OBUT4IHvB_zrDkpgBztn9HzFZpuTYNzqjZ20ubLZAoY1LVwCuyws/s320/egg+carton+bug+head.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSBDAgiFfBEaqL3KhI5YbmaLBaR70IG2BxDCoxd6eMBdDDk5AJ9mXSn_IRTjnA33HTcvQp58_tdtxKK1cal1YJjt2vJzz7YYxo85-C6T-ITd6VSdB-5kF3q0dROInfs_ddtKtBJfBjBLY/s1600/egg+carton+bug+shell.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSBDAgiFfBEaqL3KhI5YbmaLBaR70IG2BxDCoxd6eMBdDDk5AJ9mXSn_IRTjnA33HTcvQp58_tdtxKK1cal1YJjt2vJzz7YYxo85-C6T-ITd6VSdB-5kF3q0dROInfs_ddtKtBJfBjBLY/s320/egg+carton+bug+shell.JPG" width="252" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I also spent several hours at the recycling center gathering tabs, and ended up having more tabs then ever before, because I had help gathering. It was my first ever "date" at the recyling center, and it was a blast. We were racing to see who could gather the most. It didn't take long to lose track, but we had a lot of fun trying. <br />

So if I get called a nerd, for example, I'll go and get the dictionary and see if the definition really matches up. I have an older dictionary, from the seventies I think, so newer definitons of words are lacking, which makes it fun. I looked up "geek" and found out that it used to mean a carnival performer who would bite off the heads of chickens or snakes. Then I looked up "freak" and decided that I most definitely am a freak. So I decided to make some art honoring such a great word. What, did I think I would read it again someday? Even though it does interest me to think about and dialogue about women's roles in media and pop culture, I barely made it through the book once before. I found it very scholarly and dry. So, it's now my sketch book. My first drawing in it is a picture of a big white Ford that I was parked next to. The really sweet thing about this is that I haven't sketched much in the past couple years. It was fun to draw something again.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhidvD8RK88iV2wsetOs3ZMyOckqArDJp45hkg3jV5qwXdmh15IISgGjWzgbMMCmuY5jsWh-aJoRpNSZo_KYdwgYHWUdGxABKpftVCcySj1WWhoUm6A753fcGLrKBli0EsM2fH8mAmmgH0/s1600/drawing+in+books+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="514" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhidvD8RK88iV2wsetOs3ZMyOckqArDJp45hkg3jV5qwXdmh15IISgGjWzgbMMCmuY5jsWh-aJoRpNSZo_KYdwgYHWUdGxABKpftVCcySj1WWhoUm6A753fcGLrKBli0EsM2fH8mAmmgH0/s640/drawing+in+books+2.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 249: I drew another picture in my book. I thought they would be good gift bags. I suppose you could use one for a purse too, especially if you want to attract attention.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqaq5ofJayFrGiM2QJ0sHtniGTVHJwit6imOf_othVNDCsGILhaVh4dN8eShH0NC05QlY4H3Z7NSSMVkae-HopRsxAn08iymaLRyiwlouqzasEnpy3ExNOtZKOqLRk2M5650ac1KpUnz4/s1600/cereal+box+bags.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqaq5ofJayFrGiM2QJ0sHtniGTVHJwit6imOf_othVNDCsGILhaVh4dN8eShH0NC05QlY4H3Z7NSSMVkae-HopRsxAn08iymaLRyiwlouqzasEnpy3ExNOtZKOqLRk2M5650ac1KpUnz4/s320/cereal+box+bags.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 239: I patched up a hole in my jeans. I think they are great. I'm not into frivolously decorated gifts. These bows however, I can dig. <br />

Similar to the all silver ones I've made before, but with a rainbow of tabs. Photograph pending because I gave it to the person it was made for right away, before taking a photo.</div><div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 233: I made another zipper flower. Just wait till it's finished, it's gonna be beautiful.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2bYjdXDwVo-JybWve07Y8MM3GuVk6otAZwCeotAHEQyXRgfHqi4ScS7cXSmoRB2JBgDatjUEwtdS8GHT0RMOqdqJPJT9RinTSECgzNhFxeKW9QmpW8CCy3oWJsi5_GGYBjnDnGmR8F7w/s1600/rolled+magazine+pages.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2bYjdXDwVo-JybWve07Y8MM3GuVk6otAZwCeotAHEQyXRgfHqi4ScS7cXSmoRB2JBgDatjUEwtdS8GHT0RMOqdqJPJT9RinTSECgzNhFxeKW9QmpW8CCy3oWJsi5_GGYBjnDnGmR8F7w/s320/rolled+magazine+pages.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 226: I made some more zipper flowers. I have tried up until this point to always either work on a piece of a bigger project, or try something new. I try not to repeat things I've tried unless I'm doing a new variation. Well, in some ways, each of these is unique, but I basically made something I've already made before. My justification is that I have been not making these flowers, which I sell at the store, because I have been too busy with my 365 project. I decided to allow myself to include some of my regular crafting, rather than not having time for it, or trying to do both. The truth is, I'm still being creative and making something everyday, just not being as hard on myself about it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9H9nQwEx81_X_gvgMHr3vK1rkS5Oo4J85aX-8jBJjfgv0gyGkT6sFQT4hUWRTAL0oApBtuwzNci6aIb2H7xkywDBG1lT93dPtcTRxrSbipDfD75o-b6ibUh59oZV2yPfF-DWMBA7e8W8/s1600/zipper+flowers.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="218" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9H9nQwEx81_X_gvgMHr3vK1rkS5Oo4J85aX-8jBJjfgv0gyGkT6sFQT4hUWRTAL0oApBtuwzNci6aIb2H7xkywDBG1lT93dPtcTRxrSbipDfD75o-b6ibUh59oZV2yPfF-DWMBA7e8W8/s320/zipper+flowers.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 227: A few more zipper flowers...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9ZQ8vGocGE2BAEwsJdmD13l6BfY8VTpllNJmMOcOhBWfC7U9GiYvejzIbx6SoiRnOhEj09Xl897MjSGS0yq5qDmKyEKdNRjY_xXYiYLPqtSqdKOW-3JSmy-Ql8-zHy5nB_BuEQa8YKXs/s1600/zipper+flowers2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="276" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9ZQ8vGocGE2BAEwsJdmD13l6BfY8VTpllNJmMOcOhBWfC7U9GiYvejzIbx6SoiRnOhEj09Xl897MjSGS0yq5qDmKyEKdNRjY_xXYiYLPqtSqdKOW-3JSmy-Ql8-zHy5nB_BuEQa8YKXs/s320/zipper+flowers2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 228: I took the cardboard tiles that I made on days 161 and 162 and started making a more permanent art piece out of them. They kept falling off my wall (I had been using that silly putty kind of stuff to stick them up), and I never could get a good photo of them either, in that spot with no light. They are being glued onto a larger piece of cardboard, with ripped magazine pages glued into the spaces in between.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhG8N4sjfDrCt6nZK63x9DoZdgQJMqX0f8Wa9F0T3Dfz2bScRLRF27DKVCAx0z1HWmmRsmcheLDheYmc8tPKFzW7AVJCVi1ikghGyapYli-9H3jQ0_ImMX5i83vq-fHZuHW0xtPJXAHwLM/s1600/cardboard+abstract.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhG8N4sjfDrCt6nZK63x9DoZdgQJMqX0f8Wa9F0T3Dfz2bScRLRF27DKVCAx0z1HWmmRsmcheLDheYmc8tPKFzW7AVJCVi1ikghGyapYli-9H3jQ0_ImMX5i83vq-fHZuHW0xtPJXAHwLM/s640/cardboard+abstract.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Day 229: I finished the cardboard abstract that I was working on. After gluing on all the tiles, I added some black paint to emphasize the three dimensional aspect of it. Then I added the words, "Not Suitable For Children," because those words stood out to me from one of the magazine pages that I was working with. I think it has come a long way from the tiles I first stuck to my wall. Now it is truly a piece of art. <br />

<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Day 230: I revisited my project from day 131. It took me a while to save up some more toilet paper and paper towel tubes. It is starting to become very intriguing to me. I like how it feels hanging on my wall, spreading out in random directions like some organic growth taking over my wall. I think it will probably keep growing. Who can stop these kind of things?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9y4OJzqCfWrx9Rbu7zS4dFb4aduQePBIIs95-iWIP-dHf0Lsqg4SXQ7KM6ka4viKBCGhl6DfeRxDmLderL-HW6CsNbuK6c2yXOKH8L2pkZO9mBiHqv8PDUOTtH_u89KoaWXokJj7gLG8/s1600/toilet+paper+rolls2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="378" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9y4OJzqCfWrx9Rbu7zS4dFb4aduQePBIIs95-iWIP-dHf0Lsqg4SXQ7KM6ka4viKBCGhl6DfeRxDmLderL-HW6CsNbuK6c2yXOKH8L2pkZO9mBiHqv8PDUOTtH_u89KoaWXokJj7gLG8/s400/toilet+paper+rolls2.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0FqL6veoIW6pq9zH8cyF1fwW_OvDHOermOUnGfM144VaiZkmBFr0kqdeZpJCfVsmsC1uYHurvyjosXRynf4uuj0U3pEK-DyBykSlN257SIvOgwJI9ehOe6uTTfcw5ybhwWtbsm6CmIOE/s1600/toilet+paper+rolls.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0FqL6veoIW6pq9zH8cyF1fwW_OvDHOermOUnGfM144VaiZkmBFr0kqdeZpJCfVsmsC1uYHurvyjosXRynf4uuj0U3pEK-DyBykSlN257SIvOgwJI9ehOe6uTTfcw5ybhwWtbsm6CmIOE/s640/toilet+paper+rolls.JPG" width="518" /></a></div>Ren Geertsenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07427709305615263162noreply@blogger.com0
